you must be very careful using a agent who gets both stamps in at the same time. It's easy for immigration to pick this up and cause issues. I have seen this happen before.

I would not count on that. The immigration officer might use the visa already in your passport.

But you can extend your tourist visa by 30 days in Thailand anyway.
