As for your comment about single tickets I usually go on a one way ticket and blag it or just book a throwaway ticket to Vietnam if it should become problematical, it hasn't thus far.

James Yarrow there are immigration rules and then there are immigration officer rules. The same question never ever gets the same answer. In Thailand it doesn't matter if your asking for a cinema ticket or a driving licence, it usually involves a visit to the village boss or a new motorbike.

I suspect flights will be cancelled a few days out, anyone's guess after that as it depends on hostilities. If its protracted I would think the airlines that can would try to divert to safer airports like Istanbul or Cairo as temporary hubs or fly direct where possible. All those Middle Eastern carriers have the kit to fly direct from London or New York to Bangkok and plenty of other points. Planners make plans.
