@Graham *****
yes I know. We had reason to enter the Country ahead of our relocation, and the activation helped with border crossings later between Malaysia and Thailand. Border immigration officers are not too familiar with the LTR-visa.

Myself and my wife recently used our BOI LTR-Visa (WP) endorsement letters to apply for an E-visa through the Thai-Embassy (consulate services) in KL-Malaysia. This was done online and we obtained our E-visa's within 3 working days. We then took separate trips into Thailand to activate the visa's showing our E-visa's (Certificates) in our smart phones.

understand, I did not need to sit any written tests etc. I used my Malaysia licence with IDP to acquire a car and motorbike licence in Thailand. 10THB for each licence - the cost was in obtaining a medical certificate, certificates of residence etc.

I am sharing my personal experience in Pranburi. Altogether, I was impressed with their process.

I should add: once I satisfied the document checks as outlined, I then had to fulfill some practical reaction tests. Altogether, I was in and out with both Thai licences within 2 hours.

Based on recent experience - you will need to show your host Country licence (usually in English) and normally an IDP linked to it, Passport, Visa Certificate, Certificate of Residence (show to immigration your Passport, Rental Agreement if Renting, 2 x Passport Photos, Visa Certificate) - if you wish for a car and motorbike licence, you will need a Certificate of Residence for each at 500THB each), Medical Certificate (no longer than 30 days old), and complete the one hour course online (remember to download and take the receipt with you in your smart phone) - the cost is in obtaining the documents, each licence (Car & Motorbike) are 10THB each.
