Really do not bring much most places are already furnished start fresh no winter clothes you can get new clothes, shoes, cheaper here no electrics power plugs are different so end up with multiple adapters its a pain can get books in exchange at most bars.

I paid bit more but was was stressed from all the bulls hit hoops so just got on plane went to visa agent let them sort it done.

Sorry forgot (visa agent) will do it all for you no stress for reasonable fee. Book accomadation for month once you have visa you can find condo etc.

When your ready just book a flight and when you arrive they will do it all for you will cost a bit but they open bank account and do all paper work just sit back relax takes about 3 to 4 weeks they cover all your expenses etc. All they need is your passport.

Never allow wife to control YOUR money do not allow family to move in don't have a child they can blackmail you with make sure you have enough money in hidden bank account if you need to escape.

YES on arrival go to visa agent done inside a month all you need is passport at worst may need a visa extention but they do it all for you 😀.

Is it better to arrive in Thailand on a tourist visa and then switch to a retirement visa or to get the retirement visa beforehand?

Just come do it here in Thailand on tourist visa all they want is your passport at a visa agent at worst you may have to get an extension for an extra 30 days. I gave up trying in Australia was stressing big time so just came out went to agent paid fee all sorted no stress opened bank account also. Just do it.
