Please can you confirm this? Until now, Bangkok Bank downstairs in the government complex Chaeng Watthana would do this type of letter for me at once. It usually took not more than 10 minutes. And then I could go back immediately to the Immigration Office and apply the same day for a O Visa retirement extension. But I have read somewhere that the bank now asks you to come back to pick up the letter in 5 days or even more, 7 days. Is that true?
Tod Daniels Just in case you might be interested to know. I went to Bangkok Immigration Chaeng Watthana this morning to extend my Non Immigrant Visa O based on Retirement.
About the financial requirements, for the past 10 years i have chosen the banked money method. 800.000 B minimum on my bank account.
As usual, I showed the Immigration Officer:
1) a bank letter ( 100 B )
2) updated bank book
But they did not ask for a 12 months detail transaction history.
In caseI I needed it, the Bangkok Bank branch located in the Government Building-basement- could print it in 3-4 days.
So, for me everything was exactly like last year. No new requirements whatsoever. Tod Daniels had told me to hope for the best but prepare for the worst, that is to be denied my one year extension, go get it, then come back and apply again. So you can imagine how relieved I was.
Everything went smooth and easy. I got my Visa renewed without a hint. I was there at 8 am. They open at 8.30 am. I had no online appointment.
Everything wrapped up, including multiple re entry permit in less than 3 hours. I recovered my freedom before 11.30 am. Exceptionally fast but not furious. Last year it was nearly 4 pm. It was less crowded than last year. So, no hassle. All the officers I talked to were kind and willing to anwer all my questions.
The Immigration Office , as you know, opens on saturdays but that day, all shops inthe Government building are closed. Bangkok Bank is closed on saturday. Same for the copy shop.
In brief this was my experience this morning. Quite good on the whole
Any branch can print a year detail transaction history? You say it requires one week. Or only a Bank main office, bank headquarters can do that? My Visa O Retirement expires on september 30. Hope that's enough time.
Thank you. But my Visa O Retirement expires september 30. And I go to extend my visa for one year more tomorrow at Immigration Chaeng Watthana. There will be 15 days left before end of validity. If they demand a full bank print out for the last 12 months, I hope I will have enough time to do that. 14 days is sufficient time to get that document from the bank? What do you think?
If I may, please one last question: can you tell me if Immigration demands a proof from where your money comes from in your home country? I don't mean geographically. I mean for example salary or retirement pension? Or Immigration only requires you to have 800.000 B minimum on your thai bank account and the bank book shows that these funds were transferred from abroad to your thai bank account.
