Yes, traditionally Thais barter. Some will 'give you a discount' if you don't barter because they had already inflated the price with the expectation of bartering but it's rare. The best way to help is to just be an easygoing human being. Don't be a cheap Charlie or a two week millionaire. That will work fine.

Never gamble with more than you can afford to lose. Starting a business is a gamble even if this had been an honest attempt to start one. Chalk it up to experience. Consider it as money spent on education and move on.

You will need a degree and the transcript and it will have to be notorised and a translation, even though English is supposed to be ok. The end of the 1st semester (there are 2) is only a month or so away so now is a good time to be looking but don't expect any income til about the New year.

Thank you. I vaguely remembered it was something like that. I wouldn't want that guy to think his 1900 baht would buy him a month.

Some years back I had to do a border run. Was going to be over by a day. A local immigration officer told me to pay the 500 baht daily overstay fine rather than pay the 1900 for an extension. If I remember correctly the 1900 baht extension in this circumstance only gets you 5 or 7 days not 30.
