Apologies if this has been asked before: I arrive on the 15th and leave on the 15th 2 months later. I guess that means I am 1-3 days over the 60 day limit for the new free visa. What are my options? (I will be mostly in Chiang Mai area and cannot change my flights). Thanks again

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is concerned about potentially overstaying the 60-day limit on their visa exemption, as they plan to arrive in Thailand on the 15th and leave on the 15th two months later, which could lead to a 1-3 day overstay. Commenters suggest options such as applying for a visa extension (which costs ฿1900 and can grant an additional 30 days), or opting to pay a fine (around ฿500 per day) upon departure. Some clarify that the visa exemption lasts exactly 60 days from the arrival date and stress the importance of understanding the count in days rather than months. Others share experiences and provide further context on the application process and potential waivers for minor overstays at airports.
Fly in visa exempt 60 days, any time after the first week go to immigration and apply for 30 days extension 1900 baht but will need 3 x passport photos and may need tm30 ( location paper work that is required by Thai law that accommodation provides do on your behalf on check in). This rule is generally not enforced.

If you go short time after arrived in Thailand, you will show that you never intended to follow the rules and only stay the number of days allowed with visa excempt.
Which furthermore will be obvious, when the flighttickets are 63 days apart.

You will have to pay 1900THB for an extension or change your flight. Will probably be less to pay the immigration for extension.

Better extend than overstay. The latter will be on your record.

Play dumb, and say "oh its exactly 2 months, so that is 60 days right?" Oh no i made a mistake i thought exactly 2 months was 60 days! You'll probably pay a small fine, or they might laugh and think your are an ignorant foreigner and send you on your way.

Risking to be stopped by police using face recognition from cctv and policevehicles before getting to the airport, which can result in a harsh fine and years exclusion from Thailand.

A week ago in genuine error, I overstayed by 1 day picked up by flight check in desk… the agent said it might be a 500 BHT fine yet at passport control I declared my mistake handing passport & said sorry. I was forgiven yet clearly told don’t do it again!
one day overstay fine is waived at airports, but not at land borders

Some years back I had to do a border run. Was going to be over by a day. A local immigration officer told me to pay the 500 baht daily overstay fine rather than pay the 1900 for an extension. If I remember correctly the 1900 baht extension in this circumstance only gets you 5 or 7 days not 30.
Thank you. I vaguely remembered it was something like that. I wouldn't want that guy to think his 1900 baht would buy him a month.

If they pick you up on that at departures id be surprised, if so small fine. If j remember its a few hundred a day, nothjng to worry about. Its when you start over staying by months they get banned etc

It is much worse if you get stopped by police, aided by they cctv and vehiclemounted cameras with facerecognition before getting to the airport, the you get a hefty fine, and may be excluded from returning to Thailand for years.
Ideally, you should learn to count to 60 using the calendar.
If that's not possible, just scroll through hundreds of answers to exactly the same question.

Coming the 15th and leaving the 15th can be anything but one day overstay, it can come at 60, 62 or 63 days depending on the month. In leap Februaries it can also be 61 but we've just had one.
apparently not because he's talking about 1 day overstay, which isn't possible if you both arrive and leave on the 15th of a month. He probably calculated duration-based, i.e. not counting arrival and departure days as two full days (but as one).
