I was asking about the weather, but I know when I can get the pension and will be moving as soon as possible after everything is organised

will be retired, so I'm definitely not going to be working out in the sun. No intention to work, other than maybe housework or a little gardening. Hopefully, I won't be relying on a/c too much. Being about 3 hours north of Bangkok, I won't be around the ocean, apart from perhaps the odd short holiday to visit the beautiful coast of Thailand.

that is 'way off' the topic of my post. Could you create your own post please

I heard that the leader of a country to the west of Thailand, with a population of over a billion, is looking for assassins to eliminate his opponents living in foreign countries. Do you have those skills? 🤣 🤣 🤣

I'll preface my response by saying that I'm not living in Thailand, but... from everything I've read in Thailand related groups, I believe that you can open a bank account in any Province in Thailand. The problem though, could be fees and charges from the Bank that you open an account with if you open an account outside your residential Province. I'm obviously not the best person to advise you, but for example, if you opened an account in Bangkok, you would likely pay ATM fees in the Province you live in, even if it's the same Bank.

You mentioned the "agency" said that you can open an account in a different city. Are you referring to an Agent that can help you with such things as Visas, Extension of Stay, opening Bank Accounts? If so, they would be right, but whether they would know, or advise you about any consequences of opening an account outside your 'home' Province, I don't know. Others in the group with experience in these things can correct, or offer further advice on this.

some people do a lot of travelling between countries and pages can fill up reasonably quickly.

isn't it just the Thai Embassy/Consulates that's setting the fees? I wouldn't have thought it would be anything to do with the country they're based in, as in the Government (in this case, Canadian) or any other influences.

if you just arrive in Thailand with no Visa, you'll get a 60 day Visa Exempt entry, which doesn't cost you anything. You can, if you want to, get a 30 day 'extension' on top of that for a cost of 1900 Thai Baht, which means you can spend up to 90 days in Thailand. I don't know what country you're from, so I can't convert to your currency.

If you get a 60 day Tourist Visa, that on it's own, would cost you a little less than the cost of an 'extension', mentioned previously. If you want to get an 'extension' on top of the Tourist Visa, that will cost 1900 Baht on top of the TV cost.

There's definitely no advantages of the Tourist Visa, except that perhaps Thai Immigration might not be so strict on the number of times you can enter the country with the Visa, compared to entering Visa Exempt.

what if he stays 'about' 6 months, then doesn't want to return until say, 6 to 12 months later? Your plan is fine if
@Darren *******
wants to return and keep his Extensions 'alive' but if he's leaving Thailand and returning irregularly, your suggestion might not be suitable 🤔
