the initial visa is only 2000 baht, year extension 1900. No idea why you would say "not cheap".

Extra info : happened 29 November 2023 (so 2 and a half months ago). Officer kept the documents. He had to come back next day with bankbook (updated it bank downstairs at immigration first), could cut the queue straight to the same officer as the day before.

It doesn't matter how many times it hasn't been checked. What counts is that as soon as there is an instance when it DID happen, from then on you have to take into account that an official at Jaeng Watthana immigration MAY require your bankbook for the transfer of stamps.

I know of a 100% true case a few months ago where he had to come back the next day with the bankbook (but luckily could cut the queue).

This also means that anyone who used an agent to circumvent the money requirements suddenly gets into unforeseen problems.

And bankbook because the IO may want to check if financial requirements for the non o "retirement" are still being met.

Passport number is not always on driving license. It depends. But probably majority of foreigners will be passport number. But can also be the Thai id number.

@Nick ***********
Driving license CAN have your passport number on it. Will be for most foreigners, but not for all. Could also be Thai id number.

The Thai driving licence CAN have your passport number. But it doesn't need to. Could be Thai id number instead.

From what I understand you just don't have enough money to live off. Better keep your appartment for the moment and save money first and make a decent plan.

Selling your apoartment in Belgium => seems like you need the money, which means you don't have enough.

You use the words " if I sell my place I have a little bit of income to survive". So then after everything is gone, then what ?

Just stay in Belgium for the time and go on holiday during the winter months.

"...and return right away to get a 30 day visa exemption. That is a 30 day visa upon arrival." -->> NO, that is NOT a 30 day visa upon arrival. You started correct by saying you get a 30 day visa exemption, and then you changed it wrongly by saying it is a visa on arrival.

Also : OP has to be careful not to do more than 2 border bounces by land without visa per calendar year. Because that is the maximum. Should be enough for 6 months a year though.

Also be careful with land border bounces : choose the right crossings or just use a border bounce company to be sure.
