 Agree but people coming from Europe would rarely have 20.000 baht in cash on them to bring into Thailand, also poor rates exchange, and worry of it being stolen, imo it is a outdated requirement, in 28 yeas I have never once been asked by the io

It's another nail in Thailand tourist coffin. They have some strange rules but it is there laws so just obey or like a lot now go elsewhere.
