You can live on very little here if you are okay with having a simple life.. a lot of people think you need several thousand dollars a month to live here, meanwhile i live here for like 800 a month and could do even less

As an American citizen there is 100% no way to do this from China right? I would definitely need to go back to USA to get it all sorted?

 From what i've seen the Chinese visa is the same, can stay for 90 days, we've used that before when visiting
