I did 2 visitor 6 months Visa for my then partner ...she had no job ,no money in her account.

She had 2 children which showed that she would return to Thailand.

What I gathered is that they needed to know that :

You would support her financially for the duration of the visit .

That you had 20k in the bank for at least 6 months.

Covering letters from friends and family.

Lots and lots of photos

We then just followed what was on the Web site .

What I also noted was that different Immigration officers wanted different paperwork .

Be patient with them,it's infuriating as they ask ridiculous questions and throw most of your 4x copies in the bin.

If it was me I would use Paul King ...he makes life easier the 1st time around. You don't get a.second chance .

@Neale ********
that happens ...that why I did 3 visitor visas ...then we did the long road to getting the UK passport . So far my wife likes it here more than Thailand.

I'll be retiring to Thailand in the next 2 years

It's probably best to get her 2X visitor Visa ...see if you meet all the criteria ...it's not easy but doable .

Then if everything goes well then go for the 2.5 yr Visa ...then she can work, but can't work with the visitors Visa ...there's English tests to be completed ...and the

Life In The UK test ...which most UK people would fail.

It's a 7/ 8 year ordeal for citizenship...then a Passport . Be prepared to spend over 10k

I've done Visa runs ...the most deadly mini bus rides I've ever had ...we had to physically stop on bus driver a she was on drugs.

Just fly out and have a short break in Cambodia,Vietnam ,Bali or Laos ...and live to tell the experience

exactly right ...I used Paul King for.our first application.I really can't fault his process , I know he comes across a little bit ,let's say Different, but he did what he said he was going to do and it all went perfectly.

Who ever tells you it's easy has never been through the Process ...I've done all the visa applications up to getting my wife a UK passport... definitely use a agent for the first time...it's a ball ache but so worth the cost.
