Thanks, Ive just done the calculation using Remitly, and like the bank, the fees are hidden in the exchange rate.

An exchange of £20,000 would give me 15,816 THB more by using Wise.

Though the question is whether the other services register the transaction as a foreign transfer in your Thai bank account.

@Jamie *****
The Wise charge is a lot higher, but the exchange rate is a lot better. The difference is 1.

7 baht per pound. That is 22,375.14 baht difference, once the charges are taken into account the difference is circa 18,000 baht in my favour.

That is a single transaction of £20,000 GBP. The banks rate is almost 1 baht less than Wise, and the charges are also factored in.

Thanks, I already use Chase as my debit card when I am there, I also use Revolut.

I was just hoping that someone could confirm about whether transactions from these sources are marked as international, as required by immigration.

I've just done the maths on this, it would cost me

baht to send via my bank, in comparison to using Wise at this particular point in time.

So, the banks a non starter.

It's all fine talking about diet etc, etc, but she's the one in pain.

We went through the injections. In the end they just speed up the break down of the knee by masking the problem, and allowing the joint to wear faster.

In the end it's your partner's pain, you should really do what she wants or requires.

My wife has had both knees replaced. She has minimal pain now (right knee only), which could yet improve because it's not yet a year since it was done.

After she had her first knee replaced, they asked about her second knee, and she had no hesitation at all. Which tells you all you need to know.

I can assure you that 'this' is not playing out, and people assuming are certainly living out their own prejudices.

We've been married more than 25 years, the property in Chiang Mai, we've owned more than 20 years. We own plenty of properties here in the UK which we let out.

So perhaps we could hold up with the newbie horror stories, and stick with the original question.
