TLDR : Answer Summary
Indonesian citizens face specific visa regulations when entering Thailand by land. Although ASEAN countries generally benefit from visa exemptions, Indonesia is not on the mutual visa-exempt list. Therefore, Indonesians can only enter Thailand by land exempt from a visa on two occasions per calendar year, receiving a 30-day tourist stamp. This limitation is due to past abuses of the visa-exempt system, necessitating either a flight for additional entries or obtaining a visa in a neighboring country.
Indonesia is NOT on mutual visa exempt (laos for instance IS) so you are limited to two overland visa exempt entries per calendar year. Welcome to the club, even though I am a genuine tourists (stayed in Thailand for 4 weeks in december/january and 3.5 weeks in april), I already received my two overland stamps, and will be forced to either fly in or obtain a visa in Vientiane for my third entry in november.
That's just how the visa exempt entry laws are written :/
Indonesia is one of the 51 countries listed that get a 30 day visa exempt stamp when entering by air or land.
It's also one of the 44 countries on the list that can only get a 30 day visa exempt entry TWO times in a calendar year when entering by land.

Why is that such a problem for you, Ju? Just fly in or get a tourist visa. It's not like you have no options.

Hi

Same as Indonesia, they only give 30 days Visa Exempt Entry.

This rule is made due to too many abuse of Visa Exempt entry by people living in Thailand.

So you get a 30 day Visa Exempt at the border in Thailand and you can extend your stay for another 30 days at local immigration, and you can do this system twice a year. Total 120 days as a Tourist a year. If you want to stay longer you need a Visa, tourist Visa 60 days, with extension 90 days for example.
