Yes and no. A ED visa is initially only 3month. Most of the time the initial period can be extended by another 3 or 6 month with no problems. But after ward: you have to show progress in classes. And you have to attend the classes.

AND: if you are really studying, you can stay longer than a year ... there is no real limit, but in a simple language school, more than 3 years is rare. At an university you can study bachelor, master and then do a PhD. No problem.

You can. You leave 2 days before the 60 days are over. And come back in on the last day. You get another 60 days. Then you extend your stay for 30 days. I do not know where the 9month come from, but 7month are certainly doable. I think itis actually 90 days and not 60 ...

"But some people consider YouTubers and other social media video makers to be digital nomads, though I'm not sure why. " Because they work online as well. What is the difference between being self employed or working for a company? I for companies remotely BUT I am self employed. I write a bill. They pay the bill. There is no difference between me an a youtuber. Except: I know what is written on the bill, and my income is not depending on "clicks". FYI: I do not work in Thailand. So strictly speaking, I am not a digital nomad. And I would not use that term anyway to characterize my profession. I am computer scientist and software engineer, not a nomadic shepard :P

Morning! ED visa stuff is not handled after lunch break. You need to get your number before lunch. The fears of others to be super early depends on season ... I was there mid of April, and no real queue "before the queue", no idea about current situation.

If in doubt book a hotel close and come the day before. 15:00 makes no sense at all. I guess you made a typo? 13:00 is end of lunch break.

Which point? That he should study Thai language insteead of Muay Thai? Considering that he will go to a Muay Thai school anyway, and not attend any Thai language classes, the idea to sent him to a Thai school is pretty wired.

So: what is your point?

@Dan ******
In a language school: you are also stuck to the same school. You can not change an ED visa. You have to _cancel_ the original visa, leave the country, come back and do a new one.

If you already 2 weeks here, you can not switch to an ED visa. It requires 21 days on your current stamp. So start initiating the process. On Phukhet Tiger Muay Thai would be a good address. Look them up, go there in person. There are several other gyms in the same road. You should check them out. Then when you are clear what to do, start the process with the school. THEN leave the country to Laos. Check first if you get another 30 days "visa exempt" or not. With those 30 days you can do the ED visa process.

Alternative, go to Chiang Mai, look for core-combat-chaing-mai. It is a self defense and Kali/MT school. They offer ED visa as well. Then again of you google "self defense chiang mai" you find several schools that offer ED visa.

Finally: you are talking super extremely disrespectful about your previous host country. Perhaps you want to review your attitude and edit/delete your posts.

Salam Alaeikum.

Yeah, and the papers posted all around on the internet say: it is 180 days per entry. So instead of arguing, lets see how it pans out. Point is: on an elite visa I can not work or earn money.

@Eric ******
Likely yes, but the topic is under debate ... some people interpret it different.

@Jim *******
The texts I saw do not indicate that. Elite Visa are completely different beasts: no work permit. So only useful a small group of people. The only good thing is that many things that once were considered work are now no longer work . So if you do not get paid you NOW can give martial arts classes or yoga with an elite Visa.
