you didn’t have to, congrats doughnut. You can be as dumb as cancelling your Tourist Visa. Who cares what other unnecessary dumb stuff you did.

Why bother? It will be superseded by a Non-Immigrant visa. You’re not in breach of any conditions like in case of Non Ed where you’re supposed to finish what you’ve started.

you’re right in practice but an Immigration officer might see your entry with a Non-B without canceling a Non-Ed visa as a breach of conditions of the latter, so it’s recommended that some visas are either cancelled before leaving or converted in-country which includes the cancellation (normally done by the Immigration). In 16 years I have never heard anyone have a problem entering on a Non-Immigrant visa while having an old tourist visa still active (for example because of multiple re-entry permit). It’s a non-issue for tourist visas and DTV is a type of tourist visa.

any Tourist visa is superseded by a Non-Immigrant visa. There’s no practical need to cancel DTV visa. When you enter Thailand, Immigration grants you a stamp of stay based on the visa you use at entry.

Any previous visa becomes irrelevant once a new entry stamp is issued.

While inside Thailand, you are legally staying on a stamp or extension of stay, not “on a visa.”

Leaving Thailand without a re-entry permit cancels the extension of stay, not the visa itself.

Laos invites for a standard interview and many other countries invite for interviews. It says you can apply but it doesn’t mean they can’t invite you to show original documents and balance in your bank application

The lady downstairs has been doing visas for 30 years. Retirement is the most popular after DTV. Happy to recommend her
