yep which is why I’m planning on being a teacher or going back into drugs worker employment

Garrett Greenwald wow that’s really interesting I was wondering how farang have set up companies here and got round it

Especially bar or restaurants as that would be a plan of mine in the future

Someone told me that to open a coffee shop my wife would have to be the sole trader and I couldn’t take any part and thought that may be how the other places I see get around it

Damn complicated thai law but at least you know one thing about this country is it makes sure thai people benefit from outside investments or business openings or companies being set up

I like it 😉

ahhh I’ve just found out that to get work at the drugs rehab that to employ me they have to employ 4 thai Nationals is that the same thing that’s happening there ?

Could you explain please as I don’t understand why

Though I think Siam rehab is run and owned by a foreigner ?

@Steven **************
yes that is what I meant by thai partners equal in the business

But I didn’t include that they have most of the power

My apologies I was just keeping it brief since there is going to be so many other complications

It’s hard enough just settling here married to a thai national lol

I do believe to set up a business in Thailand you have to have two Thai nationals as equal partners in the business

If anyone could correct me that would be fine as I may be misunderstandingsomething I read

Garrett Greenwald i don’t do a 90 day report or extension on my 90 day VV NON O

Tricky to know which side of the law I’m on

My wife isn’t my landlord and that’s where I stay

This time we haven’t travelled outside of Chiang Rai

Next year when I settle here we will be going to the sea and will be folllowing correct procedure
Nathan ***************
I don’t think we did this when we went to Chiang Mai for two days

I know the hotel wanted to see the resident information on my passport

But we didn’t go immigration when returned to Chiang Rai

@Kyle *******
after tax quite a few of my friends are working full time in clubs and bars restaurants or sales and don’t pull £350 a week after tax national insurance

If that was the case why do so many people in full time employment often say be better off on benefits

I’m just saying from experience

Beg to differ

@Larry *****
yes new rules came into play for many different visas

The non O to visit my wife in Thailand for 90 days now asks for me to provide bank statements with income of £1500

In the U.K. it would be pretty difficult to find many people in full time employment earning that kind of money

Also the same requirement for volunteer visa occurred about the same time 4-5 weeks before I came to Thailand

Same for education visa etc etc

All NON O are asking a lot more documentation especially if not for spouse circumstances

Always a wise move to join the thai U.K. forum or something similar

There’s always someone up to date with requirements even though the embassy or immigration might not be upto par themselves

yeah we on the same page Steve did mention you applied in Laos

Where I thought we needed to apply for the NON O back home

I’ve been thailand three times previous

First trip didn’t need a visa as it was two weeks

Second and third trip just applied and sent money with a nice letter and got visa

This fourth time and now the new rule I had to send statements to prove £1500 income each month for three months that’s just for a 3 month NON O

Last stay I extended 2 months but only stayed 1 month extra

At present I don’t have 400k in account so would struggle though a friend has offered to help me with the 400k in the bank although I’m waiting on another resource to be finalised

Did have some guy who I think posted in here or Chiang Rai group and he is offering to do ED visas for one year with no study needed because he has contacts

Then he offered to stick 400k in bank which I would have to pay him £835 and then pay another £835 pound for him to complete marriage visa one year 🤔🤔

Something says don’t trust this man lol

So I’m gonna come here next year to settle and hopefully teach after completing TEFL COURSE

otherwise it’s wait for finances and then do the 1 year extensions to get by for first year
