Hey guys ,just recently done a trip to Vientiane to get my non-o single entry visa based on marriage which I received but I was asked for a bank statement this time (never been asked before but I know they have been lately) .I asked them the amount needed to show so I can know for next time and I got the answer of "next time it's not needed now but you will next time" I proceeded to ask a couple more times before I gave up ...does anyone know or has been officially told the amount needed for a proof of bank statement on a non-o single entry that they are asking for? Thanks guys 👍👍👍

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the bank statement requirements for obtaining a Non-O single entry visa based on marriage in Vientiane, Laos. Although they received the visa without presenting a bank statement, officials indicated that financial proof would be necessary for future applications. Community members discussed the amounts typically required, with suggestions ranging from 400,000 THB for a marriage visa to £1500 monthly for three months, varying by citizenship. The conversation highlighted inconsistencies in requirements across different countries and the importance of checking with the relevant Thai consulate.

Anyone know if the
*******
k can be kept in a deposit where k bank issues you a book bank for verification of the amount in question and or a letter or is it mandatory to put this Money in a savings account ?
Riaz *******
Ok great stuff thank you 🙏🏻
Steven ***************
Yes. Correct. Doesn't have anything to do with accessing it as I said.
Steven ***************
All accounts let you access your money.. because it's your money..

You just lose the benefits of not touching it eg interest.

Banks make money from other people's money
Riaz *******
Msg from Tod confused me about which fixed account you can and can’t use so am trying to get that clarified before I stick and fix the full amount
Riaz *******
@Steven **************
ok boss thank you
Steven ***************
Take bank book and photocopy of every page
Steven ***************
What part dont you understand??

Deposit the money .

Wait the 3 months.

Dont let balance drop.below minimum meanwhile.

When the time comes to apply, get the letter from bank showing 3 months of minimum balance.

Also get your bankbook of same account updated on the day you apply for extension. There's a bank downstairs of immigration.

Take letter AND updated bankbook with you when you apply for extension.

@Steven **************
ah yes ok just wasn’t sure if this would work
Steven ***************
I know this because I've done it myself
Steven ***************
Need letter and your bank book updated to same day you apply for extension, to.prove the money is still in it.
Steven ***************
@Riaz ******
. Normally a fixed deposit account pays higher interest if you dont access it for a certain time period. If you do,you lose the extra interest because you did as it breaks the term
Riaz *******
Garrett Greenwald yes plus the letter will accompany.... will this work ?
Riaz *******
This ok?
Riaz *******
@Tod ********
it’s just that I don’t know of a fixed deposit that you just can’t access so am confused !!
Riaz *******
@Tod ********
yes letter am clear on
Riaz *******
Tod Daniels what do you mean by can’t access or can access? It’s fixed for one year and I keep it there so thought I would use it for this purpose! If I break it I can use it am sure and they give me a book bank as well for this. At one point of time I wanted to use this deposit to secure a credit card but never got around to doing that
Tod *********
this is what that bank letter looks like for using banked money to meet the proof of funds.
Tod *********
For the extensions inside the country there are two types of 'fixed deposit' accounts

There is a fixed/term deposit account where you can access the money any time BUT you lose interest or get a penalty to access it <- You CAN use this type of an account.

There is a fixed/term deposit account where you cannot access the money at all during the term of the deposit <- you CANNOT use this type of account

Even if you use a straight savings account you need BOTH the bank letter (usually just a fill in the blanks 5 or 6 line letter) AND you need copies of the bank book pages.

Tod Daniels extension of stay after the annual expiry!! And yes in Thailand
Tod *********
and are you asking about this for when you apply for an extension of stay inside the country at the immigration office or when you go to a thai consulate in another country and buy a visa?
Tod *********
You were asked IF you had a bank statement with you and when you didn't you were still given the visa but told you'd need one next time you apply for a 90 day single entry Non-O

Which IF you get a yearly extension inside the country at your immigration office you wouldn't need to do :/

And if you're not going to get an extension you should have went to savannakhet or HCMC and gotten the year long mult-entry Non-O visa based on marriage
Jesse *********
@Tod ********
Isn't non O always issued as 90 days first, and you have to extend... but extension is based on original visa (either single or multiple entry)

thanks mate .just the man I wanted to hear from 👍👍 I've sent you a inbox message
Steven ***************
Depends which country you come from. Eg Australia 200k in bank for 3 months for a 12 month spouse visa. Double that to extend it for one year from inside thailand. Every thai consulate seems to have it's own set of requirements worldwide.
Brett *********
I am Australian and I got my 1 year ME non O to follow Thai spouse in Ho Chi Minh City. No financials needed. I hear they are still not asking for financials. Why not go there?

@Nathan **************
what happens mate is I go to Laos apply for a 3month non-o single entry visa then stay the 90days (or 88ish ) then go to immigration to extend it for another 2months (60days) all up I get 5months ,yes all that have been getting denied are either tourist visas (to many in 1 calendar year) or visa runs stamp in stamp out haven't heard of a non-o marriage being refused as of yet based on no bank statement just warnings
Steven ***************
@Nathan **************
. Definitely easier for me. Never had an issue at airport or immigration. The big THAI WIFE stamp in your passport seems to solve a lot of issues..

Marriage visa still requires leaving every 90 days. But extension is report every 90 days. Resets each time you leave and re enter.
Nathan ***************
@Steven **************
yeah that’s what I meant once he’s here then he can do the extension with 400k

I thought you had to return to your home country to apply for that NON O

That’s rather interesting news thanks

Could be handy while I seek work next year when I move out here

Though it’s been suggested just go for straight marriage visa rather than all the hassle of skipping borders etc
Steven ***************
All I know is as an Australian I had no choice but to apply inside Australia for a thai spouse visa. Extensions on it I do inside Thailand.
Steven ***************
@Nathan **************
. He is leaving the country. Vientanne isn't in Thailand.

400k is for an extension of stay,not a Visa. There's a difference between the two
Nathan ***************
@Joshua **********
how does that work doing the 3+2 then the 1 year with reentries ? Is that because you have the 400k in bank to do the 1 year while here
Nathan ***************
@Steven **************
I’ve seen reports of a few being rejected at Vientiane recently on a few pages saying same thing but that includes those doing visa runs etc etc

Joshua seems to have a different situation and I thought you had to leave the country to apply for marriage non O
Steven ***************
Saves a lot of stuffing around. No need to leave and if you do leave 3 or 4 times a year you wont need to do 90 day reports probably. Re entry permits at airport take 10 minutes every time I've got one.
Joshua **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Steven **************
yes sounds like it's my next step and just apply for re-entry's when needed (which could be 3-4times a year or more but saves dealing with this I guess
Steven ***************
@Joshua **********
. Ok. Money must be in thai bank account in your name only for extensions now.Did it myself in March.

I'd just do that. Saves the hassle of leaving and dealing with the morons that work in consulates outside who make the rules up as they go. 😅
Joshua **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
Single entry's based on marriage
Joshua **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Steven **************
I obtain my single entry's from Vientiane, I can extend that inside Thailand with the 400k sitting for 3months so if I needed to I can place the 400k into my account before I applied for the next one
Steven ***************
If the rules are the same for Aussies and Kiwis which wouldn't surprise me, you have to obtain the spouse visa from inside your home country. I had to. It can then be extended inside thailand
Joshua **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Steven **************
I'm guessing so too would be good to know the amount to need that's all I would rather transfer the actual amount into my Thai bank then to transfer all my funds from my home account as I don't really want to do that with the way the baht is at the moment
Steven ***************
@Joshua **********
. Vientanne always used to be no financials as you said. Looks like they're turning the screw there now too.

yep that's exactly right mate ,sea countries have their own required amounts and rules but I just can't seem to find out how much even when asking the officials there .I go back and forth so 3+(2 if needed is perfect) then the 1 year with re-entries but hey looks like 1 yr could be easier
Nathan ***************
Non O immigrant visit visa it is proof of £1500 earning going in bank each month
Nathan ***************
£1500 per month for three months
Nathan ***************
@Joshua **********
yeah we on the same page Steve did mention you applied in Laos

Where I thought we needed to apply for the NON O back home

I’ve been thailand three times previous

First trip didn’t need a visa as it was two weeks

Second and third trip just applied and sent money with a nice letter and got visa

This fourth time and now the new rule I had to send statements to prove £1500 income each month for three months that’s just for a 3 month NON O

Last stay I extended 2 months but only stayed 1 month extra

At present I don’t have 400k in account so would struggle though a friend has offered to help me with the 400k in the bank although I’m waiting on another resource to be finalised

Did have some guy who I think posted in here or Chiang Rai group and he is offering to do ED visas for one year with no study needed because he has contacts

Then he offered to stick 400k in bank which I would have to pay him £835 and then pay another £835 pound for him to complete marriage visa one year 🤔🤔

Something says don’t trust this man lol

So I’m gonna come here next year to settle and hopefully teach after completing TEFL COURSE

otherwise it’s wait for finances and then do the 1 year extensions to get by for first year

I'm already in Thailand I returned from Laos with my non o visa from Laos last week ,I applied from Laos not my home country...we are on the same page right? Have you recently come from the uk to Thailand with this new visa you just got?
Nathan ***************
Check the thai embassy in your home country and maybe email or call them

It’s been known that this new change would cause all sorts of confusion especially since immigration aren’t even aware of what the new rules actually are as such

It’s crazy
Nathan ***************
@Joshua **********
I applied for my visit visa to see my wife on July 14th a day before they rolled out the new digital application

So it’s all new to many countries

If you got away with it this time then your lucky

Like I say the American guy nearly had to cancel his trip because the website didn’t say anything too

He got a letter back saying must provide financials

His USD figure was the same as mine in GBP

Count yourself very lucky indeed

I won’t go into how lucky I was with my application

But I can tell you I expected a no so was thrilled when it was returned in 3 days with a yes
Joshua **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Nathan **************
the thing is there is no listing of this on the websites ? And when asked they could not tell me the amount they just told me next time ...all countries outside of south east Asia have different listing amounts from what I have seen but sea countries have no requirements listed just states "financial proof" and only 400k list for multiple entry ?
Nathan ***************
A USA citizen had same problem and had to get his bank details before visa was completed
Nathan ***************
@Joshua **********
it’s the same for USA for Every one entering on non O no matter where you are from

Are you a citizen of Vientiane

I presume that’s Lao

They may have different rules as they are still eastern neighbouring countries but if you are a citizen outside of that then yes
Joshua **********

@Nathan **************
this is uk based information for their requirements am I right? Not Vientiane?

Garrett Greenwald sorry mate thought I was going to get ridiculed for my question so was wondering what I said wrong haha ...but yeah I've heard multiple people get told have a bank statement next time but they have never been told how much I've heard rumors of 200k and then even 20k
Zabel ******************
Garrett Greenwald

You mean my response

In glad I can make you smile I aleast i helped make someone feel better
Zabel ******************
If I'm not Wrong it's 400k on marriage visa non O but think that's is if you are marriage to a Thai
Joshua **********
ORIGINAL POSTER
Garrett Greenwald yep the bit that gets me is if you need 20k for a setv which is valid for 3months then why 400k for the same amount of time but on a non-o right? I've also heard 200-400k (among other amounts also) but it's never been confirmed
Zabel ******************
Garrett Greenwald

Im not marriaged

It was just out from my momory but that ain't as good as it use to be so I could be wrong hehe
Joshua **********

I have no problem transferring the amount but if they can't tell me do I just show up with ฿7 and a couple of satangs as proof ? 😂😂
