I have read through posts and found related, but not exact answers. My situation - I am a US citizen over 50 on a B-Multiple entry visa that expires on September 22. I would rather stay in thailand than go back to a Covid hotspot in the USA. I am seeking advise for the experts in this group about the best option to extend my stay in Thailand. Following are the options I am considering could you please advise which are possible.
1. Apply for a new B visa in Thailand?
1. Leave the country and apply for a B visa in a safe country that accepts Americans
1. Apply for a Tourist Visa inside of Thailand
1. Apply for Retirement Visa inside of Thailand
1. Accept my fate and return to the USA

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen over 50 with a B-multiple entry visa expiring on September 22 is exploring options to extend their stay in Thailand. They consider applying for a new B visa, a tourist visa, or a retirement visa inside Thailand or leaving the country to apply for a visa in a safe country. Responses indicate that applying for a new Non-B visa inside Thailand is not possible, and a tourist visa cannot be obtained from within the country either. The retirement visa may be attainable with sufficient funds, but leaving to apply for a B visa may require extensive documentation and could take time. A suggestion to consider the Thai Elite Visa also emerged as a viable option for an extended stay.

Sorry I missed the part where the O/P answered Ben's post.
SO now we know the O/P is here on a year long, multi-entry Non-B VISA and on amnesty off of the 90 day entry stamp.
There is no option to "convert" that to any other type of visa inside the country OR change to anything else because it is not an extension it is a 90 day entry that ran out and went onto amnesty.
The options are pretty much what I outlined in my earlier post.. Sorry :/
I have full page visa sticker - b visa multiple entry expires on sept 22. I obtained in USA. I was unable to leave country the 2nd time I was required in April, so went on amnesty.
Should be plenty of time to apply if he gets started soon... Word around the campfire is that it is taking 3-4 weeks for background checks/processing for new members.
you're clearly on amnesty until the 26th of Sept, so ride it out, see if the country opens back up AND/OR prepare to depart if it doesn't because I don't see ANY of your options as viable to stay longer
The Thai immigration office will not sell you a new Non-B within Thailand, however they can sell you a one year extension of stay based on employment. Go to your local immigration office and ask for the handout.
>Leave the country and apply for a B visa in a safe country that accepts Americans
Possible, however you will need what is called a "Certificate of Entry", proving to the Thai government that your return is "urgent". Expect to be outside of Thailand for some time.
>Apply for a Tourist Visa inside of Thailand
You can not apply for a tourist visa inside Thailand
>Apply for Retirement Visa inside of Thailand
You *MAY BE* able to acquire a one year extension of stay based on retirement/ being over 50, if you have the 800K THB seasoned.
>Accept my fate and return to the USA
The USA will always accept your return. I'd choose other countries first though.
