OK... Thanks Tod, what about staying here for the first year on TVs & VEs, whilst transferring in 65k per month.. and only then going for the Non-O conversion & extension..? I'm just throwing up possibles...!

Is it no longer possible to get a 12 month "over-50" Non-O from your home country.. then bring in the 65k every month until your ready to make your first extension in T/L???

@Ryan *******
Agreed, but I did read recently that they'd stopped issuing/needing TM6.. or was that only for flights?? Anyone?

To OP, if your O-A Visa is still valid when you return (i.e. before May 31st), you may have problems in getting the airport Immigration giving you a 30-day Visa Exempt, rather than using the still valid O-A again for a full 12 month PtS.... But if you're already in your 2nd year (or on an extension) then simply leave without a Re-entry permit to cancel your current PtS, and the 30-day VE will be the only choice for them.

Yes, a wise B/L acct. And for me they do show up as international to my Kasikorn acct...

If you use a borderless account, you can receive a number of small payments in your native currency, then change them to THB in whatever size chunks you like to optimize Fx rate, and then send your 40k THB to your thai bank each and every month (on or around the same day, as some IO's have preferred).. If you do retain any extra in your borderless Thai account, it will make up for any month that may be a little short. Fees to convert are entirely % based (so lots of small exchanges are exactly the same cost as one large one c. 0.5%), and the fee to send from B/L to thai bank is the same 31bt irrespective of size of the transfer.

Some offices tell you to bring in your updated bank book when you do your first 90 report following an extension so they can check... but if you do the 90's on-line they say not to worry.. (and they'll catch it at the next annual extension.

If your passport expires during the next 12 months the Imm. Officer will only extend as far as a the PP expiry date.. So "shortening" it should be possible even without the PP expiring..

Some IO's will shorten your 90-day "next-appointment" to co-incide with your next extension date, so you can do both at the same time... Not sure if they would do the 90-day report 30 days early if you did your extension that early...
