Thailand is not the cheap place it was 30 years ago . The persistent strength of their currency ensures that . If you want to live the backpacker lifestyle then yes it’s cheap but not otherwise . Vietnam is cheaper and just as viable .
good answer although 8k-10k a month will only get you something basic . 20-25k will get you something nice , big and plenty of space for 1 or 2 persons in a better area
Just rent , at least at the start . Gives you freedom to move . If you buy a condo you might not live long enough to see it ever sell again . As an added bonus , renting is also pretty cheap
I think the general consensus here reading the comments is … it’s foolish to do any business in Thailand . I would agree by the way . Save your money and spend it in Thailand but don’t do something you have no understanding of
To put it all into context , from 1993-mid 1997 it was at 38-41, from mid 1997-2008 it rose to 92 then fell towards 55 , from 2008-mid 2016 it was between 48-55 , then Brexit crashed it to 45 so from mid 2016 it was between 45 down to a low of around 38 in 2019 , from 2019 to now it has slowly crawled from 38 back up to its long term medium average of 46.75 , then in the past few days it’s crashed back sharply to 45.50 as a result of the usual Bank of England nerves ( they never support the currency unlike the Bank of Thailand who ensure the baht is forever strong ) and the rising gold price plus the BOT will not cut rates this year
You say you will rent “to begin with “ the implication being you will later buy . Personally I would advise against buying anything in Thailand concerned with property . Keep renting and you keep the flexibility to move
the truth is often harsh in life . However what it isn’t is … wrong . This guy has little chance of even getting into Thailand let alone residing there . And as for citizenship well that’s barely possible for anybody the conditions are so tight .
So the truth in this case is harsh … but true nonetheless
