stupid not to carry ANY cash for emergencies but lots do , can’t pay for their 75 baht cigarettes because the scan doesn’t work and they have NO cash .

but you carry some cash and that’s my original point . Why do people walk around with NONE ? It can and does cause problems . Why do I use cash you ask ? It’s quicker for one and I don’t have to remember to keep receipts and tick everything off the bill once a month to check it’s right . I stopped doing that in the 1990’s hated it .

But the main point is everybody should carry some cash , say 1000 baht or equivalent for emergencies . Personally I carry more but that’s just my choice . I also use scan and cards as well of course

exactly you have a few thousand baht . That’s my point don’t have no cash at all . Crass stupidity beyond belief . There’s virtually zero chance of it being stolen unless you’re a drunk tourist in Pattaya .

There has not been a day in my long life that I have ever gone out with zero cash let alone arrive in another country with none . !!

I am and nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing these people who live on credit having their card declined for 100 baht and because they don’t have 1 baht on them have to walk out looking stupid . Makes my day, the sheer stupidity of it

I mean why on earth not carry SOME cash for the cases where the plastic doesn’t work or the machine is broken . ? How many times I’ve been behind people in Thailand at say Foodland or Tops and their card declines or doesn’t work for some reason and they don’t have 200 baht to pay in cash . Crazy people . Just put 1000 baht in your wallet or purse for those cases . Usually they don’t have 1 baht in them and have to walk out of the shop after making me wait
