Thanks but that feels like cutting it so fine. If it doesn't turn up in time to do my renewal around 4 August, as far as I understand it I would not be able to use the old one at immigration. Am I right on that?
Many thanks for fast reply and all understood. Given that UK passports are now taking up to 10 weeks to renew, it looks like I'll have to go for the shorter length of extension. A further question - while my extension of stay is based on marriage, it is also based on my work permit/earnings in Thailand. In the scenario above, do you know if my WP would also be limited to the validity of my passport, or would WP and extension end up being staggered by several months?

I'm aware of that. But this rule (if it's real) seems designed specifically to cut through the Ministry of Labour's intent. My question is if anybody knows whether this particular rule exists.
