Can I maintain my work permit while extending my stay based on funds in the bank instead of salary?

Hi, I'm on a yearly extension based on marriage to a Thai and supported by a salary as opposed to cash in the bank. I'm contemplating changing the financial side to the required 400K in the bank to, hopefully, make the extension process quicker and smoother. My question is can: I still maintain my work permit if I extend my permission to stay on this 'money in the bank' basis? Thanks in advance for authoritative feedback.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The extension method (salary vs. bank funds) does not affect your eligibility for a work permit. You can maintain your work permit as long as your visa type is valid, regardless of how you choose to extend your permission to stay.

As Stuart has said nothing should prevent you doing this....but it's always wise to check with your IO because rules can be interpreted differently from office and by officer.

Yes you can work off a marriage extension, regardless of how it was obtained financially.

The method of funds for an extension shouldn't make any difference to your work permit. The work permit eligibility is based on the visa type alone.
