99% of people in Chiang Rai wears it and no one is complaining, especially the locals. Obligated or not, thats a different story. But people wear it here without a fuss. I dont think Asians would complain, and if they do, they are on a handful.

That is 60k - 68k baht per month. It is more than enough for necessities no matter which part of thailand you are in unless you are spending lavishly or want to live like a king, literally. With that type of money beers and ciggies everyday aint a problem. People get by with half of that amount, for a family of 4, easily. Just dont expect to eat waygu everyday.
