 ok, thank you. The few Americans that I know with DTVs applied in adjacent countries to Thailand so I thought there might be complications or something.

Is it harder to get a retirement visa in Thailand compared to retiring in Mexico?

Mexico is not that easy and you need to have an immigration stamp to register your car with mexico and pay. If and when, because you will, get pulled over or go through a checkpoint they will immediately sieze your vehicle and the process to get it back is about 80% of your cars value. Your post is nonsense.
