the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh took 4 business days to issue mine (they hold your passport during processing)

I just went through this process. I went to Phnom Penh and got a 60 day tourist visa to enter Thailand and then immediately sent my passport off. Turn around time was about 5 weeks.

thanks Jon, is the EMS option something you do in person versus filling out the form and mailing it in? Did you make an appointment? What was your grounds for getting them to issue an emergency passport? Is “because you have my passport right now” a good enough reason? I could only see lost or stolen passport as a way to get an emergency passport.

I believe you are right because applying from Thailand doesn’t give me an option to expedite.

I really appreciate your response and I was planning on the strategy you outlined, but I can’t swallow the “hope for the best” part of this advice OR wondering if I’m going to still be able to fly within Thailand.

Do you happen to know of any law firms or anything that may be able to assist with smoothing out the bumps of this process? I’d be thrilled to pay to make this easier and less anxiety-inducing for myself. Much appreciate your help! 🙏🏽

thank you for this! So I guess what I’m worried about is; what happens if it takes longer than 8 weeks? I don’t want an overstay.

And I heard they issue a temporary set of docs that allows me to travel within Thailand and check into hotels, but I can’t find any hard data supporting this and worry if it’s hearsay. 🤔
