Kool Breez yeah it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation. In order to get ahead you need to live somewhere cheaper. So I would suggest living in an equally cheap county with less visa restrictions until in a position to qualify for the DTV

Kool Breez I think the 500,000 baht requirement is to ensure foreigners can cover any health care costs as there is no obligation for health insurance. Otherwise they could be a burden on the thai health care system.

The ask:thailand community, consisting of multiple Q/A groups with over 100,000 members, powers this platform. It is not an official government resource. Our members actively contribute to this resource, and while we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee its complete reliability. Assistance to travelers is provided as a community service.
