It doesn't sound too bad.

It's a shame the Ranong immigration office isn't next to the boat pier, but it's pretty close anyway.

Was the airline ticket a requirement to be allowed to cross out into Myanmar & then be let back into Thailand?

Even the songtaew is easy enough.

But I guess there are always a lot of people not used to visa runs!

Why would he need help stamping out & getting on the ferry boat? It's easy & obvious how to do it.

I would definitely not write unemployed...

Write something respectable sounding. You don't want to be rejected by a judgemental clerk in a Thailand consulate over something minor.

You'd be better off learning Spanish, regarding the way the USA is going, & Chinese for international business!

You'd have to be committed to at least staying on for 5 years in Thailand to make learning Thai value for money & time expended as that money & time is very valuable for most people.

Do you even realize how many languages there are in the world? Thai doesn't even make it near the top 20 of most useful ones!

Should doesn't imply certainty, especially in a place like Thailand... ;)

You should be able to get her passport back before then.

If you plan to cross a land border crossing to enter Cambodia she could telephone the border immigration at that crossing to check if it's possible to cross with a border pass instead of a passport. You can usually find the border checkpoint phone numbers from Google maps.

Good luck...
