yes, apply in the USA for the 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa, enter Thailand, get stamped in for a 90-days stay permit. Open a Thai bank account ASAP and transfer a minimum of 800,000 THB onto it. Then as soon as the money has sat in the account for 2 months, apply for the "one year Extension of the Stay Permit". There is no health insurance requirement (although I recommend you gotta have one)

ah, that was a good move. I am crossing my fingers for you that it will work out

this could actually be the problem. You must do it the exactly other way around! We got hundreds of reports of this problem. . . You are advised to: FIRST enter all details manually, press "save it", and THEN upload the passport scan

is what I am saying. It just doesn't look good on his visa application. Students on Non-Imm-ED visa are required to attend the classes. No misses. Immigration is doing random checks

are you sure your names (first name, middle name, family name) matches the "international" last line of your passport detail page? Always enter these details manually (with auto-translation turned off) BEFORE you upload a scan of your passport

Frankfurt Consulate is known for a dead phone - they never pick up because most people will ask irrelevant or stupid questions. They will only answer emails if they think that your question wasn't stupid. That's what one of their staff members told me 😉

the embassy staff member who is deciding over your application might find it strange that you don't participate for the full extent of the seminar. On a Non-Imm-ED visa you are supposed to attend all classes. So you starting a few weeks later, and missing out classes, will void your application

You said before that you would relocate from Austria to Germany, to your ex-Bavarian address. There you can apply for the 90-days Non-Imm-O Retirement Visa with money on the bank, or with proof of income, as for the application by the Munich General Consulate, you do not need to be a "real" pensioner yet. But you need to figure out if you can get your DTV cancelled before you apply for a 90-days Non-Imm-O visa by the Munich consulate. You normally cannot apply for a new visa as long as you still hold a valid one or a valid stay permit.
