Right. So far, it’s too early to say, as the government has left the doors wide open—perhaps too open. Having spent years here, I can confirm that the government can make a quick U-turn. The DTV itself is a kind of U-turn compared to the existing visas. Immigration needs a way to milk it properly 🐮

We still don't know what measures will be taken at immigration for people crossing the border. Immigration authorities may set individuals aside to request additional information or documentation. If they choose to target certain cases, they could apply similar scrutiny as seen with ED visas. Other visa holders, such as those on retirement visas, are also required to provide proof of eligibility each year. I'm not saying this will happen to everyone, but claiming that it will never be necessary may be inaccurate. Immigration can refuse entry even if you hold a valid visa.

Immigration can still conduct checks upon arrival, as was the case with ED visa holders. Let’s see how it goes...
