Tod Daniels After unsuccessful here at Surat Thani ( Khiri Ratnhikom / Khrungthai Bank) I flew last week to BKK and went to Bangkok Bank Rama lV road. At the door a nice lady with low English repeatedly said -can not-need work permit )to my request to open an account. I nicely asked to talk to the manager and I were allowed to go upstairs. Nice english speaking lady,small talk and she agreed to open account,only need passport copy with stamp from German Embassy. I went there ( around the corner, sathorn road) and were back at the Bank 30 mins (!) later. The rest was done quickly and professional. Debit card, savings book, online and SMS service. Only = no Visa only Union pay which I finally accepted after she credible explained BB no longer offer Visa debit cards only CC which I don't want. So I took the card ( without the insurance stuff). All done smoothly. Just to give you latest details on opening bank account for Farangs.

As i am staying on the mainland i can't do the tm30 within 24hrs at Koh Samui. Before i just went to the local policestation in Khiri Rat and it was ok but now as i'm looking for Retirem.Visa later i will do everything properly.....
