Is there an area of Thailand where they do more organic type farming, which would enable those who live close to purchase healthy foods?

yeah I have not arrived yet, but I’m thinking they know you’re not Thai so if you’re by yourself, then they’re probably not gonna wanna go down in their price. That’s a good idea to decline the ride if they’re not gonna turn on the meter. I’m actually thinking when I first get there, I am not going to buy a motorbike. I’ve heard about how many accidents there are so I’ll give myself some time. Also if there is an accident, it seems that the foreigners get blamed and also are the ones that have to pay. I totally understand your concern. Some people just have to argue no matter what. I think it’s wise to ask questions and try to think how you will manage different situations that come up.

do you ever try to negotiate down on the Taxi?

Very justifiable thing to be concerned about. I’m moving there and I’m certainly gonna plan on having help from a local in any negotiations. For one thing, I’ve heard that if you were in a vehicle accident, you will be blamed and you will pay.

After reading all these comments, it appears that most will self ensure. What happens if you go to the emergency room and you can’t pre-pay?

great point. I wonder if three months is the most coverage you can get? What if you live in Thailand six months and the US the other six months?
