well I’ve been coming for over 40 years having lived in Bangkok for about 5 years in the 80’s and 90’s and have been visiting regularly since then. I personally know of people who have chosen to relocate to other countries because it’s harder than ever to stay in Thailand long term. These are wealthy people who don’t want the grief. I’m sixty and had planned to retire to Thailand but think initially it’s easier just to visit for 2 or 3 months a year. My wife and I have property and would contribute to the local economy so the loss is to Thailand’s economy.
easily done these days and the strength of the thai baht adds to the misery. I remember going back to the late 1980’s when a thousand baht was a good sum of money. If you stay longer you will spend less but 5000 baht a day is rock bottom for me.
