PS - Would like to thank Ellie and Tod for all their help in getting us the Visa Extension. I don't think even a mystic with a crystal ball could have foreseen the unusual problems that we experienced
Yes we did it last year on OA visas at the end of our first year. Had a long weekend in Phu Quoc Vietnam (only 55 min flight away) and got stamped in for another year.
We are now coming towards the end of our second year so this time we’ll have to do all the paperwork and go to immigration
"Check the latest requirements for an extension based on retirement at the local immigration office 3-4 months in advance"
This point may also help Kerry (above)
Thanks for your guidance in the past. As you know we came from UK on OA, did the bounce to Vietnam and back at end of first year and now plan to extend at end of second year at Immigration in September. We hold +800K in Thai bank have required insurance cover and have necessary TM30 and TM47s so...
Why check requirement only 3-4 months in advance, Immigration's policies can change at any time so I would suggest a bit of over-kill and check every month from 4 months in advance right through till the last month of extension request.
Is that right? I Just fly out and in again and BOOM I get another 12 months without having to apply! (assuming I have the required years insurance cover)
Thanks Vernon, think we'd feel better going in person for the first time anyway, to maybe get some feedback from the immigration officer rather than posting on-line into the ether.
