I used WU then changed to Wise. But over the last year WU final payout has an edge over Wise. Also Wise used to send in minutes bit now can take up to 3 biz days. I do check both on the day I want to send it but WU is faster n cheaper even by a few $/£.
I had old GB notes from 2017. They are now obsolete. So i lost all value for them. Need only the new GB notes. SuperRich Green (I think, its been so long. Now I just transfer from my Canadian account via Wise/WU direct to my Thai bank a/c) offers the best exchange rate.
I have never had one except gor the first time I entered in August 2019. Travelled extensively in and out except during Covid. My last entry was in June this year. Never had one after Aug 2019 till now
I too have been using WISE and you can just to a trial by feeding in your amount of transfer to see how much and compare with any other means like Western Union or any other means you prefer. Wise gives the best transfer rate and low fee selection. I usually just choose the direct transfer because it has the least fee. I am from Canada not the US but I feel they are the best. Kbank, SCB and Bangkok bank are the only ones you can send more than 50K Baht at one time.
Just to add what Kool Breeze said about going to the police station. Check if you can get a copy of the report you filed just in case you don't have one already. I don't know if they give you a copy or not. It could be in your favour that you are genuine. To add to what Nigel Rustage said, please don't forget that the police have started with face recognition technology while they patrol at random and I guess they will be more vigilant over the pre and post New Year day celebrations. Just take care till you can make amends on Tuesday.
