Most banks are now not opening accounts for people with tourist visas at the moment - you may find it is possible if you take a family member with you to their branch ( I am guessing they have a bank account) as a sort of backup as this may make the bank see you more favourably Good luck

You need to stay where you apply from until approved You may be asked to attend an interview or for proof of where you are

You will only need to show accommodation if asked and then you can tell them your plans. Chances are they won’t even ask

I flew ( short trip with light carryon luggage only) 7 weeks after my knee replacement with no issues Up to you but easier than trying to extend in person from what others have said.
