what constitutes it being a shoddy school? I turned up to class, got my stamps, had immigration walk in with a camera to film us in class etc…

yes different school but they are fine with it. Just curious if immigration have a limit on how many you can do.

Do I have to give a date of re-entry? Or is it just a permit for permission to come back in when I’m ready. No specific date?

Depending on what country you are from, they use passport scanning machines in KL these days. No need to deal with an immigration officer. I did it a few weeks ago. Both in and out. No stamp in passport.
