 what constitutes it being a shoddy school? I turned up to class, got my stamps, had immigration walk in with a camera to film us in class etc…

Is it necessary to go through immigration when doing a same-day border bounce from Phuket to Kuala Lumpur?

Depending on what country you are from, they use passport scanning machines in KL these days. No need to deal with an immigration officer. I did it a few weeks ago. Both in and out. No stamp in passport.
