I'm sure you're a nice guy and all John but I'm not going to get into this long running debate with you. People don't get their visas in time all the time and enter, then bounce out to activate it later. I've sat in thai Visa forums for almost 10 years and I'm just speaking from experience, the experience of seeing people tell their tale, and the experience of admins suggesting this recourse. You ask if the ministry of foreign affairs gives different types of requirements to different embassies? I don't know that but I know a lot of embassies just do whatever they want to do. Forinstance if you want to go buy a DTV in New Zealand 40,000 baht. Being a consul general or ambassador has its privileges.

one embassy/consulate out of a few hundred. Hardly a trend setter.

a variety of visas being applied for wouldn't arrive on time, everything from non O or tourist visa or ED, the whole gambit, families booked their trip applied for visas that didn't arrive in time, and yes probably the majority waited till the last minute or later to apply.

it's saying you can't already be in Thailand during the application process. Says nothing about leaving the Netherlands or entering Thailand.

I'll just say this, you can get a visa and come to Thailand or you can come to Thailand without a visa, so for those that don't have a visa they can enter visa exempt. That is what the visa exempt scheme is for. If one or two embassies want to put a requirement on Visa applicants that they must wait in the country for their visa and not proceed to Thailand then I'm sure they will put that notice on their website as a few have, not all, not many, only a few.

Lemme guess, 100,000 baht to the agent?
