Oboy..

what a circus one has to endure in Thailand. Spent 15 minutes in vietinbank here in Hoi An, to open an account on a Canadian passport. Now direct bank to bank transfer. Cost CDN$ 2.99 per transfer of $1000. Only glanced at my visa stamp.

Do some real research, lots of birdbrains " farangs" in Thailand. Increasing by the fact, england was kicked out of the EU, followed by the ever increasing Yanks. Enjoy the most polluted seasonal country on the planet. Yeah .. lived there, owned businesses, pipe down.

Vietnam is by far better. In comparison Vietnam is way cheaper, easier to live in terms of moving around, personally live in a central hotspot called Hoi An, renting a large house and live comfortable under $1000/month. Among super friendly people.

Have lived in SE Asia over 27 years, including 7-8 years of owning a health and wellness center in Chiang Mai. Never been able to understand why it's required for anyone to have to deposit 800k into a Thai bank .. in order to live there. Is it for an eventful illness or just greed ? In case of illness, get a reputable health insurance .. cheaper than the current required deposit. Here in Vietnam , no such policies .. One pay $25 fill in a evisa question and just arrive for 90 days, zero restrictions on the number of extensions at this moment. Lived here in Hoi An for about one year.

Actually, everything is cheaper in Vietnam, compared to Thailand. That includes dentistry, healthcare and general cost of living. I am renting a fully furnished house, 3 bedrooms, one office, large second floor patio, very modern and close to all amenities, central Vietnam. Cost is 11 million dong/ $449/month. For $1000/ month, one can live very comfortable.

Have renewed the visa 6 times without any issues. The process takes an average of 5 days. Current news musings are that a 6 month visa may be forthcoming, but nothing confirmed.

Firstly, I am a Canadian that has lived in SE Asia over 26 years, owned businesses, including Thailand and after covid, living safe and sound in Cam Chao, Hoi An. Online visa, government site allows a 90 day visa, for people from most countries, that necessitates an exit/ entry, same day if one wishes and renewed for another 3 months. Cost is $25 from government to $55 via an agent
