I am 71 years old and on ME OA (R) Visa issued in South Africa. Valid until 27 Feb 2025. I need to do first one year extension in Feb 2025. I want to use the Income method but my problem is that I only managed to open Bank Account in April.

(We arrived in March) I do have proof of arriving with Forex in excess of Baht 100 k cash for March but will only have bank statements for 11 months to prove 65k income. Will immigration accept the cash forex as income for March to meet the 12 month requirement?

If it is an option could I use a combination Income plus 400k bank

balance ?

We are in Lamai Koh Samui

Thanks folks.

I've just applied for a one year extension to my Non O visa - retirement. Picking up passport tomorrow 👍 this is based on the 800k in thai bank. Next year I will change to the 65k+ pm method which I started making the required international transfers for several months ago. I know that the 800k is supposed to remain in the bank untouched for 3 months. My question is this. Once the visa is issued for this year can I withdraw the 800k as I will be switching to monthly transfers for next years application?

Does the money you send from overseas have to be regular payments or just be more than 800,000 baht for 12 months? Do you just get a letter of authorisation from the bank about deposits? TIA

Extension based on monthly deposits experience, Jomtien.

This is NOT the āļŋ 800 or āļŋ 400 in the bank method!

Nor is it about those who have a complyent Embassy who will give income letters.

I was issued my extension today with little hassle.

I brought the following to Jomtien Immigration

Application

2 photos

Passport

Copies of all the pages in my passbook

The fee

Recent TM30

Home bank statement showing 12 foreign deposits

of at least āļŋ65 K. Below is a copy of the accepted

statement which will take a week to get.

I did NOT have to show proof of last year's āļŋ800K. Since 12 monthly deposits have to be shown, it requires you to have some other visa type for you to aquire this 12 deposits.

Many have done this. Some were successful and some were not. My opinion of why the failed ones happened is probably due to either confusing the two types of extensions (income and banked) or not getting the bank statement correct. It must be deposits into Thailand, 12 deposits of at least āļŋ65K, the bank statement must be from the bank and be in the prescribed format and definitely not money in your home country.

At first it was rejected, the bank put the wrong month on the statement and I had have it redone.

Is anyone actually using the income method to keep marriage visa active?

Hello all!

If you've previously renewed your retirement visa based on the 800,000 method, how do you transition to renewing using the 65,000 income method?

Is there a period when it's necessary to have both the 800,000 and the ongoing 65,000 in your Thai bank account?

Thank you!

Chiang Mai O based on retirement renewal.

Is the income method currently accepted? I asked a snarly I/O who said "I recommend you stay with the 800K deposit.

I don't care about his recommendation, I want to know if the income method works these days.

Previously CM also accepted the income/bank combination method. Does that still work?

Thanks much for any current info.

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding my annual extension based on marriage to a Thai national. My extension is due in November. By that time I will have been employed in Thailand for 9 months with a salary over 40,000 baht. Is that enough to satisfy the financial requirement or I still need to have 400,000 seasoned for two months?

Thanks for your input on this.

Information for Hua Hin members using Income method for yearly extension.

Bangkok Bank (HH)say they no longer are able to issue a letter with tabulation of overseas income transfers instead they issue 12 months of credit transfers.

I got my annual retirement extension to day at HH Immigration with 12months Bank Statements, 12 months Credit Advice, updated account passbook & Bank Account confirmation letter.

As an aside in & out in 45 minutes.
