How urgent is it to apply for the DTV before returning to Thailand on a visa exemption?

They gave me a warning that “next time” I needed to get a proper visa to enter. Previously I had been doing visa exemptions.

Tourist visas aren’t hard and it’s just $35. You can apply online from the USA (or possibly korea).
