VOA is now 45 days from 57 countries. If you have a lot of money go for Thai Elite. It's 5 years with work permit or 10 without WP

Try and go direct to the insurance company or use comparison site Mr Prakan. The freelance agents here look to make a killer commission on pensioner falang insurance.

Should expats in Thailand register with their Embassy for safety reasons?

Yes I registered with them. They send me details of changes in law's etc. During Covid they kept me up to date and even offered repatriation flights and a loan if I couldn't afford the fare. I have found their presence here to be advantageous.

Android TV box or smart TV. Subscribe VPN and watch iPlayer or itv hub or subscribe to IPTV around £7 a month and get all sports, bt/sky/epsn and all movie channels free.

I would wait until the Thai government decide to open their country again to ordinary tourists. Many things might change and the visas of the past may change as well. My advice is to holiday at home this year and look to spend the 2021 New Year here in Thailand.
