TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation reflects uncertainty surrounding travel to Thailand, specifically regarding the requirement for quarantine in November. Participants emphasize that currently, Thailand remains largely inaccessible to non-citizens and express skepticism about easing restrictions in the short term. Those eligible for entry must navigate complex visa and repatriation procedures, and even Thai nationals face challenges returning home, including quarantine measures. Insights point to ongoing changes in regulations due to the evolving COVID-19 situation.

I Telya, the administration is just twiddling it’s thumbs waiting for a vaccine to come
Patrick ************
@Edward *******
even when they find a vaccin it take at least 6 months or more to produce And suplier
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
@Patrick ***********
yes, I think the production will be ramped up to be done in a month, supply another one-two months, and then a minimum of three weeks out in the general public to receive any significant adverse effects. If severe enough, it will lead to further delays. However, most likely there will be several candidates out there in the field being promoted, maybe 4 to 5, so we can assume at least one or two will pass safety concerns. After 30 years as a physician, I can tell you a lot of adverse effects show up after being released that were not caught in phase 3 trials. That is why we see such a high number of drug recalls. Because of how they are expediting the process, there may be more risk of that happening here.
Kool *******
As long as there are people coming back that test positive while in quarantine, quarantine will still be required. Today there was one, yesterday none, and the day before 5, so plan on quarantine.

They might get rid of covid insurance in Sept. Only hope

Wasn't there a way to go through another country and then fly private into Thailand? Anyone know that way???
@Garrett **********
@Garrett **********
You can jump on my private plane of you figure that one out!
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
@Positively ******
some people have posted that they’ve done that, I don’t know if they’re telling the truth. Six people flying from Cambodia, possibly could be cheaper than doing a US$20,000 state if the Phuket Option was used. Who knows?
Garrett ***********
@Posit*****
Yes, if you can get a certificate of entry from the embassy, then you can fly in via a private flight (cheapest is from Cambodia) without the need for a repatriation flight.

However, the 2 I know of who've done this had their COE and visas organized by the BOI.

Preferably I'd like to just go commercial back

COE ? BOI? LOL. Im am idiot bro. You're more experienced at this stuff....lol. And Flying back out of the Country in a month same way? Or how does that work?
Garrett ***********
@Posit*****
Certificate of Entry, Board of Investments (a government department). There is a indefinite ban on commercial flights into Thailand that was just extended (indefinitely) last week. You can't fly commercially.

39 hotels are alternative state quarantine. Some of them is not expensive the cost are inclusive transfer, 2 COVID tests and 3 meals for the hold period.
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
@Nueng **********
39 hotels, let’s say at 100 rooms per hotel. That’s 3900 rooms/individuals they can process every 15 days 3900 dividing by turnaround time of 15 days means they can let in 260 people a day. For a tourist visa we’re looking at possibly the end of 2021 to get in
Nueng ***********
@Edward *******
If I am a tourist at the moment Thailand is not an options at all. Why do I have to spend my money and my time in country who want to lock me down for half a month. Insane.

read that hotel quarantine may need about USD 2500?
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
@Ken *****
There is a Facebook page, ASQ Thailand. Last time I checked a few weeks ago, the price was variable, depending on the quality of the hotel.

You’re going to have to quarantine. Everyone is going to have to quarantine for a very long time if they want to get into Thailand. It’s a scam! The Thai government loves to milk people for money
David **********
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
@David *********
When they get a vaccine out and if it proves reliable, (I’m not saying safe) and Thailand is still losing millions and millions of dollars because of the bottleneck of the number of Quarantine hotels, they may just decide to let people come in who have proof of vaccination and antibody testing Without having to be quarantined
David **********
@Edward *******
you’re worried about an infection that is similar to seasonal flu. We have all been round and round about this. No one would close the borders for seasonal flu. No one should close the borders for COVID-19. 99.97% of people that contract this disease heal, live, And get better. That’s a fact. Why would anyone crush their economy, destroy their countries livelihood over something like that?

Not sure why you think you’ll get in in November. And your thought there will be no need for quarantine in November, kind of paints you as being clueless. The only possibility of quarantining not being required over the next year to year and a half will be if Thailand excepts proof of vaccination as immunity.

Posts and opinions on Facebook have no authority on behalf of the government but I estimate quarantine will not be lifted anytime in the next 6 months.

less than that, the economy is collapsing... When the phuket attempt to reopen will be called a failure, no choice but to reopen (option b will be serious social unrest)

well if one doesn’t mind 2 weeks locked in a room?

But for those foreigners having family there I guess they may think about that?
เอ็ดเวิร์ด *******
@Gene *********
if you want to go anywhere safe, you’re going to be quarantine, with the exception of A few countries that will test you at the airport and only quarantine you if you’re positive. All these countries that let people come in with a -72 hour test are taking a significant risk, and the question is how many positives that slip in that way Can lead to a surge?
Michel *************
@Edward *******
Surge of a non lethal disease for most, this is not the plague!

I presume that there would be no exception for anyone eventhough for a local, Phuketian like me, could not avoid the quarantine. Frustrating but that's a price we have to pay for "returning to our own country"
Gene **********
@Bong **************
of course! By the way always interested in looking up profiles!

You are quite the traveler! Wow!

I would have sent a private message but you said you do not do that! 😜
Tod *********
The virus did not bring a calendar or its day by day agenda that it will follow scrupulously. Visa's and admissability can change daily in response to experience. Viral outbreaks in your travel history in the last 30 days?? no chance.

do some research first before you have a go.

At this time the only non Thai allowed entry must have a B work visa or have a Thai spouse or dependent child.

Regardless of who you are traveling with, you are not eligible to enter Thailand at this time

No crystal ball
Garrett ***********
Jason, Thailand is still closed. Thai nations returning to Thailand must go to their nearest embassy and apply for repatriation. They need a fit to fly certificate and must book the flight through the embassy.

You will need to apply for entry too.
