TLDR : Answer Summary
There is currently no Visa on Arrival available for Indians or any nationalities in Thailand due to ongoing travel restrictions. Various comments indicate that it is unlikely to return until significant travel restrictions are lifted, with estimates ranging from late 2021 to uncertainties extending into 2023. Most participants suggest obtaining a tourist visa instead, as the Visa on Arrival might not be reinstated in the near future.

Until at least 60 to 70% of the Thai population is vaccinated you're not going to be seeing any visitors coming into the country. Unless it's for a special exemption like business-related. Forget about coming here until at least June or July at the earliest
yes, with all the nutty regulations attached. Thais have just opened to all countries with STV visas. Quarantine still required, but Bangkok post did not mention if other past requirements are current or not. This gal in America wants to visit Fiancé.
Covid insurance , a certain amount of money in the bank, and costly quarantine hotels. Also before only let 500 In a month on specific flights. If you could get a seat.
The financial requirement was removed from both the tourist visa and the STV. You just have to show sufficient funds to support your stay. Covid insurance is cheap and easy to get online.

No more visa on arrival till US covid cases go zero all recover
you're correct they probably are going to break it down by country. They're probably going to be more discriminatory discriminatory against countries that have had high outbreaks

Good question. My gut feeling is no earlier than March 28, 2021. This is based on two things: 1) the announcement by the government that mass tourism won't resume until at least March and 2) THAI Airways flight schedules returning to "normal" (reduced flights compared to pre-Covid, but no longer on a "pandemic" schedule) starting on that date.
What this implies is that quarantines will have to be lifted before either can take place. Although some hints have been made of a lifting of quarantine for select nationalities by Chinese New Year, the target nationalities are a few "low-risk" ones obviously including Chinese, but also Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Australians and New Zealanders.
In order for the 15 day visa on arrival to become available again, obviously the quarantine would need to be lifted first, unless said visa on arrival becomes something like 30 or 45 days instead.
It could also be that it won't be possible to enter Thailand under the old visa regimen until later in the year, say July. That stated, it does look like the Thai government is trying to bring back tourists given the announcement today that visa-free stamps are likely to return soon, after cabinet has given their approval.

VOA is now 45 days from 57 countries. If you have a lot of money go for Thai Elite. It's 5 years with work permit or 10 without WP
he is asking about visa on arrivals. Dont think he is considering an elite visa or investing a million dollars on property. Its a confusing reply for the poster

Not necessarily. Read the latest news about the possible reinstatement of visa waivers after cabinet gives their approval. Was just published in the Bangkok Post today.
I think the earliest the visa on arrival may return is late March. Of course it could also be much later, but the point is that there have been several indications that the government is trying to bring back tourism, albeit the quarantine requirement is likely to remain in place for now.

Everyone is allowed to come in, but the quarantine remains.
there is very little likelihood that they will restart the 15 day visa on arrival program for the 19 countries that use it.
You CAN buy a single entry tourist visa at a thai consulate in your country and apply for permission to enter thailand now so that's about the only option you have.
Ya ********
Thailand open visa for every country now. Just read the new in this morning.
might actually wanna READ that news rather than parrot half of it.
The fact the country will let anyone APPLY to get a tourist visa to enter the country does not mean they reactivated the 15 day visa on arrival program (which they did not do) :/

Never. Just get a tourist visa. A visa on arrival is only valid for 15 days if my memory is right
And yet just today they announced most nationalities under the previous 30 and 90 day visa waivers are likely to receive those again soon, with the 30 day ones becoming 45 days until Sep 30, 2021.
I think the visa on arrival will be last, but it's almost inevitable it will return.

Actually, we don’t say Indians anymore, we say Native Americans
you seem like a very bitter and twisted lady. It's our asses at the end of the day we all the same. It's not our fault that certain people decide to have a chip on their shoulder and feel hard done by because of the colour of their skin. I have Thais, Indians, Jamaicans and Iranians in my family so to call me stupid is laughable. History is as its name says. So anyone that still dwells on and uses something as an excuse that happened in a different generation needs re-education.
all human ancestors were originated in Africa and then some moved out of it and dispersed all around the world. Read anthropology. That's evolution. This is just a theory. It doesn't have actual facts. There are no confirmed historical sources that confirm it.
Not really no one knows how good the vaccine will be, how the virus is going to mutate, the one in Myanmar us more infectious than the Wuhan one and the Thai government is hyper careful, too many variables to ponder.
Nonsense. They just announced visa free travel is coming back soon. So the visa on arrival could return fairly soon too...pending the removal of quarantine restrictions first OR a revamp of the permitted period of stay, to at least 30 days.
Margot Robbie in a bubble bath explaining it like in "the big short" would be coolest, but charades and sock puppets would be hella cool too - especially if done bilingually
Every time there is an incident like the Myanmar one tge authorities panic, and today they acknowledged people crossing from Cambodia illegally even I know people who used to do that pre Covid19 have you seen the Laos border, the Meking is hard to police.
They're not panicking as much as they did 3 or 4 months ago, and neither are the populace. People are developing "pandemic fatigue". Also, the authorities are preparing to reopen the economy as they know the country can't survive closed off for much longer. If it were 2023, there would be no point. By then all the SMEs would be gone and there would be no tourist infrastructure, save for a few 5 star hotels left standing. Who would bother waiting that long to come to a country that is only a shell of it's former self? What would be the point in coming then?
Keep dreaming. As short-sighted as the country's leadership has been, they're not THAT stupid. Besides, there are plenty of government ministers and corporate lobbyists who are pressuring the government to open up. Like in any government, there are plenty of different opinions floating around.
The very latest the government will open up is when the rest of the world does, which in my opinion is before the end of 2021. Unless the globalists have something more drastic in mind, in which case all bets are off, but I don't think that's going to happen. Not now anyway.

Piep Piep Calimero Mid Year 2021 vaccinations Thailand latest estimate from goverment. Wont be before that i guess. But it is all crystal ball stuff
Jim ********
Piep Piep Calimero I don’t think it will be before May time for sure
Keep dreaming. About half the world doesn't want this shot, and secondly, there is nothing to suggest a vaccine will become a travel requirement in 2021. In fact, there are MANY indications that masks, social distancing and even quarantines will remain DESPITE a vaccine.
Yes, the media HAS spoken of the possibility of a travel vaccine requirement in the future, but to me that's old news. I've known about this since 2017. I knew that during the 2020s, governments would try to coerce adults into getting vaccinated and this may include a travel vaccine requirement. However, getting it implemented is easier said than done, and it would be unprecedented for an experimental vaccine to be forced on the people against their will to travel, so soon after being approved.
I don't know what the future holds, but IF it happens, it won't be that soon. Maybe 2022 or 23, but not before.
