you can only get a 'residence certificate' from immigration, in Bangkok, once you have completed your first 90 day report.

It's much easier to get one in Pattaya if travelling that way

If you are doing 90 day reports, you can obtain a residence certificate from immigration, the bank's alternative requirement to prove your ID and address

Bangkok bank, head office branch. Opened an account in Oct 21 on a tourist visa. You will need to obtain an Embassy certified copy of your passport and your TM30 receipt. To get the passport copy, you'll most probably need to make an appointment at your Embassy. No insurance required, I only deposited 500thb to open the account. Plenty of English speaking staff.
