My sister just called the london embassy who assured her they are flexible and that the money in there now and for just 1 month before was enough :)(but they do still want 6 months statements sent even if it has below the 5000 required. I guess to check other things like not in serious debt recently..have salary payments etc) so well worth making direct contact with the embassys.

Guidelines are for sure best to meet. But peoples experiences are invaluable as not everything is always black and white as it seems.

Would it be fair to say maybe the best option is to go into the local I/O at some point with my wife and ask them what they prefer?

Before can get married need a few thi gs including affirmation of marriage certificate from your embassy..can do in bkk. It took me 1 month to get an appointment so slows down the process

In 10 years coming in and out of ranong i have never been asked for 20k or onward travel evidence. Of course to be sure then take that worst case there is an atm near if needed

Could you also explain the senario of getting a 3 month and then extending it (whether from london or savannakehet) is it 1 year extension, 1 time payment, just with visits to the imm office every 3 months?
