TLDR : Answer Summary
For your first border bounce at Ranong with an Australian METV, recent experiences suggest ensuring you have a crisp $10 note for the Myanmar side, along with two copies of your passport's data page. Travelers have noted that it's a good idea to carry proof of 20,000 baht in cash or its equivalent and have documentation for onward travel. Although varied reports exist, having a valid METV typically allows for smooth re-entry into Thailand.

, ahhh, and they wouldn't let you bounce out and back in at that Ranong border because you only get a 14 day visa exempt entry when you FLY in to the country you can't enter by land without a visa

Myanmar. I know why now. As soon as I got passport, I didn't go to Thai embassy at Yangon to get 30 days Tourist visa. I just came by flight . For Myanmar, we get 14 days free visa. So on that day 2nd May, I went to Chumpon immigration office and extended 7days more (TM 7). I had to pay 1900 as well. Actually, I got a job here so I have to apply Non B Visa , for that I need 14 days to be in Thailand cuz I need to wait for all the docs from school, labour ministry and so on.. Plus school isn't open yet. They can't be done within 7 days of my stayšŸ˜„.

you evidently didn't have a multi-entry tourist visa.

What country is your passport from?

So sad for mešŸ˜„ my tourist visa date was (19 April -2nd May) so on 1st of May i took bus from Hatyai to Ranong but I was rejected to cross the border. Ranong Immigration Officer said I can only use flight back to Myanmar šŸ˜„

Thank you!! People like you are the reason I continue to read this page. Where do you recommend I get my next SETV (US passport holder, just finish METV from Australia)

You need a crisp (I.e. new) $10 note for the Myanmar side. Also 2 copies of you passport data page. If you donā€™t have these there are guys there that will arrange it albeit at a bad exchange rate - 500 baht for the $. They give you a few minutes for shopping in Myanmar. Great duty free prices in the small shops by immigration there.

no proofs asked for, no 20k, no onward ticket, no address confirm, no $10us .. no stress at all šŸ˜Ž

In 10 years coming in and out of ranong i have never been asked for 20k or onward travel evidence. Of course to be sure then take that worst case there is an atm near if needed

I know some who have been asked for 20k cash. Not heard anything about onward travel so canā€™t really say either way. To be honest they are pretty laid back there so itā€™s only those on back to back thatā€™ll get grilled. Also they know they canā€™t ā€œsend you backā€ so will make sure you are good to come in before you go.
Tod *********
can you confirm if they were asking for proof of funds and proof of onward travel when stamping back in ??
Tod *********
There are mixed reports of the Ranong crossing requiring BOTH proof of 20K baht (or the equivalent) in CASH and proof of onward travel..

With a valid METV you should have no problems in reentering Thailand. But have 20,000 Thai baht in Cash or its equivalent with you, your address of stay.
