Im am the director of a company and am applying for a non b visa within thailand locally in Ranong imm office, to then apply for the WP. Q) Do you get a 3 month visa 1st, like penang or can you get a 1 year straight off?

Also i will leave thailand to return to uk after 2 months for my holidays.

Q) Should i apply for the next non b visa in london or just do when i arrive back and will i then beable to apply straight for the 1 year visa or have to start over with a 3 month again.

Basically trying to figure out if worth to start the process now or on return to thailand

Many thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a Non-B visa locally in Ranong, Thailand, and inquires whether they will receive a 3-month visa initially or if it's possible to obtain a 1-year visa outright. They also question whether it is better to apply for the next Non-B visa while in London before returning to Thailand or to apply upon arrival back in Thailand after a holiday. Responses indicate that typically a 90-day single-entry Non-B visa is granted first, and an extension for a year can be applied for later. It is suggested that applying in the UK may be more efficient given the user's travel plans.

I got my first 3 month Non-B in London easily. Just have the correct paperwork (I can't remember exactly what it is but should say on their website)

I don't think so. The embassy staff are Thai so I don't see why you would. Most of mine were in Thai but I did mine two years ago. It has the list of documents required here and doesn't say they must be in English.

i read when doing in london you have to have all foreign docs translated to english. Does this mean all the thai business docs? as there are so many ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

If your travel plans are like that I'd just not even waste the energy or effort to get a 90 day Non-B before you leave. Instead make sure you have the documentation required to get a 90 day single entry Non-B from the thai consulate in the UK.

Then once you come back you'd get stamped in for 90 days, and when you have 30 days or less left on your stamp you could apply for the one year extension at the immigration office.

With a Visa you only get 90 days of stay, leave the country and get another 90 days of stay till the valid until or enter before date on the visa. With the Extension of Stay you get 1 year of stay, does not have to leave, but if you like to travel you need a re-entry permit and you report at Immigration if you stayed 90 days inside Thailand, this can be done on-line, in person or by mail.

Also whats the difference and prefered option between a year extension or getting a year multiple visa?

on the same subject i agreed with your conclusion as it seems a lot of effort before i leave. But ive since found out that if i get my 90day Non-B visa now and am granted a Thai work permit, that im eligible to apply for the 1-year visa in London. I have everthing in order and this would give me a head start rather than waiting.

So the new question is, are there any issues with leaving Thailand to the UK?

Will my Thai WP remain valid even though i will be without a Non-B in the inbetween period of applying for the year Visa.

Does the 90 day visa terminate as soon as i leave thailand? If not should i try to apply for the 1 year in London whilest the 90 days still valid?

Many thanks for listening

@Seymore *******
got no idea, but seeing as it's a thai consulate I'd say thai documents would probably be okay..

Thanks Tod. Makes sense. My reason was get my work permit now (be prepared for the start of next season) and get that part out of the way, it also leaves me doing 2 extensions and a border run before i leave thailand. With those details what do ya reckon?

you will get a 90 day single entry Non-B visa from the thai immigration office THEN when that has 30 days or less left on it you'll apply for a yearly extension of stay from the immigration office
