You’ve basically answered your own point as to why it’s “dead as a door nail” by saying you are in chiang Mai area. It is by far the worst place province to be in this time of the year

because you can get a visa exempt stamp on arrival which at present gives you 45 days and then can extend for a further 30 days. I’m not sure what you mean by Thailand is “still” closed?

But if you want to go for 1-2 weeks for surgery this ain’t doable due to the quarantine you will have to do

Youll need to quarantine for 10 days if you aren’t vaccinated or 7 days if you are vaccinated

And you don’t need a visa as you can get a 45 day exempt stamp When you arrive

I opened mine a couple of years back on a 30 day exempt stamp 😂😂. It differs from branch to brach, bank to bank
